5. AMC Backstories (Peyton Place, All About Eve, Rain Man, Poseidon Adventure)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aESlHJgm_Sc So what exactly was AMC Backstory? Well boys and girls, let me tell you a story about a time when AMC (American Movie Classics) was actually a good channel. That time was the 90s. Back then the channel was known for showing prestige films from Hollywood's golden age and some unique, if sparse, original programming both scripted and non-scripted. This is a far cry from the reputation AMC has today as one of the worst channels on TV; known chiefly for considering movies like The Marine and Catwoman as American Movies Classics and showcasing some of the most overrated television shows in the history of the medium. What the heck happened? That's a question for another time. For now just take a look at what AMC was like in its glory days. The crown jewel of the channel back then (at least for film lovers) was the show AMC Backstory. Every episode a different iconic (or infamous) film was given the 30 minute rundown. Actors, directors, and film historians were called upon to detail the making of the film and its impact often providing very eye opening and informative tidbits to the public. The 30 minute time frame wasn't quite conductive to a more in-depth study of the material but AMC worked well with what they had, and produced one of the best non-DVD resources for people looking to find out more about their favorite films.

Raymond Woods is too busy watching movies to give you a decent bio. If he wasn't too busy watching movies and reading books about movies and listening to podcasts about movies, this is what he'd tell you. "I know more about film than you. Accept this as a fact and we might be able to talk."
