10 Great Horror Films You Probably Missed In 2015

10. Deathgasm

Written and directed by Jason Lei Howden, this New Zealand splatter-flick is just bloody good fun (pun intended). Two music fans and somewhat dysfunctional boys, Brodie and Zakk, spark a friendship through their mutual love of thrash metal and decide to form a band. After meeting their idol and acquiring some enchanted sheet music, things are looking pretty good. Unfortunately for the wannabe Slayer-esque rockers, their music ends up summoning a malevolent demon. Damn. Think Peter Jackson's Brain Dead with an injection of satanism, guitar shredding and a zombie getting their lower jaw ripped off with a dildo. Yeah. Really. Deathgasm is a gloriously gory horror that riffs on the styles of grindhouse and splatter films, complimented by a metal soundtrack running right through its core. Obviously first and foremost this is going to appeal to metal-heads, but if you like gut-spilling action, with some witty one-liners then this'll be right up your street. There is also enough chainsaw carnage to make Sam Raimi happy. And that should make you happy too!

Most of my time is occupied by reading, staring at a screen, being oppressed by the government and awaiting the return of the Great Old One Cthulhu... I also write a little too.
