10 Great Horror Movie Characters Who Die At The Beginning

2017's Life did not exactly set the world on fire upon its release, serving as a lesser version of more creative cosmic thrillers such as Alien and Event Horizon. That said, it did benefit from having a watchable cast, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson and Ryan Reynolds.

In a post-Deadpool world, one would expect Reynolds to play a character who at least makes it to the end of the second act? As it would turn out, the sci-fi horror had other, more fatal plans for Rory Adams. Before this however, Adams serves as the film's comic relief (naturally for Reynolds) and even saves the mission from catastrophe.

Unfortunately, his valiant deed ended up setting the stage for his demise, as well as that of his fellow crew members. After rescuing his crewmate from the recently discovered alien (affectionally named Calvin by the crew), Adams comes face to face with the extraterrestrial in the worst way possible.

In one of the film's most memorable scenes, Calvin enters Rory's mouth and devours him from inside, instantly killing him. While the rest of the picture does not quite match this moment, it still does not take away from how shocking Adams' death was.
