David Cronenberg's 1975 feature debut Shivers was nothing if not a stellar indication of the wild career that would await its director, revolving as it does around the residents of a high-rise apartment building who become infected with a parasite that turns them into violently sex-crazed lunatics.

The goal of the scientists who created it? To "turn the world into one beautiful mindless orgy," and boy, do they sure seem to get their wish by the film's end, sans the whole "beautiful" part, though. That parasite hasn't only turned the apartment building into a hotbed of sex and violence, as a news report reveals that the epidemic has spread out of the building and into the wider Montreal area.

Needless to say, the suggestion is very clear, that the parasite will continue to spread and with almost absolute certainty reduce the entirety of the human race to its basest instincts, ensuring widespread murder and mayhem in the process.
