2. The Entity (1982)

When one considers the shocking subject matter of The Entity, it comes as little surprise that the 1982 horror isn't currently available to stream online. Hell, the film's release was so controversial that, despite being slated for a US debut in 1981, The Entity didn't hit American screens until 1983.

Sidney J. Furie's picture depicts the tribulations of the unfortunate Carla Moran. A single mother residing in Los Angeles, Carla is r*ped and tormented within her own home by an invisible malevolent force - the film's eponymous "Entity".

Despite the contentious nature of the movie's premise, The Entity is an utterly engrossing viewing experience. Barbara Hershey is exemplary in the lead role, producing a horror performance that was far ahead of its time. Even the likes of legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese have been effusive in their praise for Furie's work - the man who brought us Raging Bull and Goodfellas argues that The Entity actually surpasses the likes of Psycho and The Shining in terms of fright factor.

Nevertheless, despite such lofty accolades from an industry titan like Marty, The Entity can only be viewed on Blu-ray and DVD as of this time of writing.
