10 Great Horror Movies You Definitely Missed In 2022
All that blood meant these movies slipped under your radar.
The year of our Lord 2022 was a fantastic year for horror.
We got amazing movies like The Black Phone, Smile, X, and Pearl all in the same 12 month span. Big tentpole films like Prey and Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness also had horror elements to them, helping take the genre further into the mainstream.
However, much like the multiverse, there was far too much for one person to consume when it came to gory, bloody movies in 2022. Even the biggest, most devoted fans of the format will have missed a couple of great flicks.
Which is what brings us here today.
These ten movies all went largely unnoticed when they came out. Some were released in non-English speaking regions, leading to them going mostly undetected by that market. As for the others, they just didn't pick up the momentum they needed to get people talking.
That's not to say that these films are bad. Far from it.

10. Umma
We can all agree that Sandra Oh is a total boss.
From Grey's Anatomy to Killing Eve to that time she randomly showed up at the Queen's funeral, the star can always be relied on to give a good performance no matter the brief.
Her brief for Umma, a supernatural horror distributed by Sony, was that of a single mother haunted by her own's mother's ghost. Oh plays her part perfectly, expertly conveying someone struggling to deal with their past whilst attempting to protect their future.
The title of the movie, which means "mom" in Korean, gives an insight into one of the many themes that runs throughout it. It uses otherworldly horror as a device to explore the impact mothers have on their children, both good and bad.
It also explores the impact on a person of growing up in a different culture, as Oh's character emigrated to the US from Korea when she was young.
With plenty of jump scares and an engaging central performance, Umma will make you question your own mother's methods before sending you running back to her because you're so frightened.
