10 Great Improvised MCU Moments
4. Spider-Man's Dying Speech: Avengers: Infinity War
Much like the previous entry, this one involves a moment that wasn't 100% improvised - Tom Holland said that this scene was born off the back of a longer, and apparently much worse, improv between him and Robert Downey Jr. - but it's still too good to leave out.
According to Tom, the only direction he received for this scene was to act like he didn't want to leave, which led to the actor improvising Peter's heartbreaking repetition of "I don't want to go".
Peter's horror at the imminence of his demise is clearly reflected by the simplicity of his plea. Seeing Spider-Man's famous wit desert him as he desperately states his desire to live is one the most shocking moments in MCU history, and even knowing that he comes back does nothing to reduce the emotional heft of this scene.
After all, no-one (save English Lit. majors) thinks about the most flowery way to verbalise their thoughts in moments of crisis, and Peter's parting words perfectly encapsulated the horror of his situation.
And with that we close the book on what has turned into an impromptu trilogy of Great Improvised Moments in Infinity War...
