10 Great Modern Horror Movies That Were Made For Next To Nothing

3. Colin (2008)

From one of the costliest films on our list, to the cheapest: whilst our previous entry, another British zombie movie, was made for £45,000, Colin was reportedly made for - would you believe it - £45. While it may be hard to fathom how a coherent film could be made on such an utterly microscopic budget, writer-director Marc Price managed it. Not only that, he made one of the most fascinating, understated zombie movies ever in the process.

Playing out largely like a silent movie, Colin boasts a masterful lead performance from Alistair Kirton in the title role, as a young man who succumbs to the zombie epidemic taking over London. The film then follows our newborn zombie as he explores this strange new world, making this one of the few zombie movies to be told from the zombie's point of view.

Price has since reunited with Kirton on low-budget black comedy Magpie.
