10 Great Monster Movies You've Never Seen
7. Howl
Hold on, things are about to get hairy.
In Howl, the passengers of a stalled train must come together when they come under siege by a pack of werewolves.
While the human drama and conflict can be a little too much at times in Howl, the movie hardly suffers from it due to its incredible monster design and claustrophobic setting. Think of it like Train to Busan, but with werewolves instead of zombies and less of a masterpiece.
In terms of werewolf design, the movie completely knocks it out of the park. There are essentially two types of werewolves here, feral ones and alphas. Both designs are phenomenal, with the feral werewolves appearing as complete nightmare fuel with their almost Evil Dead-esque qualities and the alphas, primarily the first we see, looking like they just came from a long stay at a crossfit gym exclusively for monsters. The inventiveness and intimidation factor of the werewolves combine with the tight setting of the train to create an experience that, while not perfect, will keep you glued tightly to your seat.
