8. The Wolf Pack - The Hangover Part II
Not just one character, but a whole bunch:
The Hangover's iconic Wolf Pack, which consists of handsome ladies' man Phil (Bradley Cooper), awkward dentist Stu (Ed Helms), and genuinely insane Alan (Zack Galifianakis), who get themselves into various hangover-inspired situations. Hilarity ensues. Or, at least, it did in the first movie. Whereas these characters weren't exactly likeable in the first movie, that was kind of the point: we accepted that this were regular people (Alan, not so much) who were trying to fix an insane situation. But when
The Hangover Part II rolled around, a carbon copy of its predecessor, everything felt wrong: the characters were made unlikeable to the point of incomprehension. They weren't funny, and we could no longer side with their antics because... well, the same thing was happening. Except this time... why is Stu so whiny? Why is Alan so annoying? Why is Phil so boring? Why is Mr. Chow so freakin' over the top? Everyone took a turn for the worst. If only we could've somehow woken up the morning after seeing this movie to find we'd forgotten everything. If only.
