9. Marion Ravenwood - Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
When George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and however else messed up the Indiana Jones franchise at large set out make the fourth film in the series, somebody came up with the bright idea to bring back Indy's one true love interest, Marion Ravenwood, because that's what happens when you make a sequel almost twenty years after the last one. Marion, of course, was a plucky, badass character in
Raiders of the Lost Ark, a rare female character who wasn't just passive. When David Koepp sat down to write the script, though, he decided that - this time - Marion should just dither her way through every set-piece instead, making lame comments, existing as a shell of her former self. Indiana Jones made it through this sequel with his character still feeling mostly like Indy, but Marion was apparently brought in to ask that age-old question:
what happens when you bring your mom on an adventure? How fun would that be? No fun at all, it turns out.
