5. Draco Malfoy - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Draco Malfoy is the secondary antagonist of the entire Harry Potter series, the Hogwarts equivalent of that snarky, rich kid at school who thought he was better than everyone else, and spent most of his time making dry comments about how much better he was than everyone else. He also thought he was better than everyone else. Anyway, actor Tom Felton plays this character brilliantly for the sum of the first two movies - you might even say it was perfect casting. By the time the third flick rolled around, though, the filmmakers began to lose what grip they had on this character, and started to portray him as occasionally villainous, and then as, like, the biggest wimp in the world. Though Draco's character does pertain that he isn't quite as tough as he makes out, the transition between
Chamber and
Azkaban was too much: he became too cowering, too snivelling, over the course of one movie, to really take seriously. In later films, it began to feel as if Draco had become a hodgepodge of traits, bearing towards which ever one was most appropriate to move the story along at the time. Far too messy for my liking.
