10 Great Movie Franchises That Lost It By The End

8. Indiana Jones

Terminator 2
Paramount Pictures

Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the greatest films ever made. It introduced the world to Indiana Jones, an archaeologist in search of fame and fortune as he embarked on a mission to find the lost Ark of the Covenant. His major opponent was the Nazis as Hitler was obsessed with such artifacts and their power.

Indiana Jones became an iconic film character, but unfortunately, not all of the subsequent movies quite lived up to that, particularly the last one.

Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade are both reasonably good movies that continue the pulp tone of the original movie though they aren't the seminal film Raiders is. And then the fourth movie is an absolute train wreck that misses everything that made the first one great in every possible way.

There's another in the works, rightly or wrongly, and we can only hope they look back to the originals a little more carefully this time.
