10 Great Movie Sequels (That Nobody Saw)

1. Shock Treatment

Adored by millions the world over, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is undoubtedly the king (or queen) of the cult movie kingdom.

So why is its follow-up Shock Treatment so universally ignored?

The truth is, Shock Treatment is an entirely different beast compared to its predecessor. Gone are the fishnets and catchy rock'n'roll numbers and in their place is darkly funny satire and a genre-bending soundtrack that's full of wall-to-wall bangers.

The town of Denton has been taken over by a television studio and the residents live their lives inside, mindlessly consuming real life in the form of serialised programming.

The previous film's heroes, Brad and Janet, find themselves ensnared in this strange and sinister world after appearing on a game-show designed to heal broken marriages. From there they're both exploited to terrifying degrees by an omnipresent cast of faux reality stars hell-bent on keeping them as studio property.

Shock Treatment's prediction of reality television and the disgusting lengths some will go for a slither of fame mark it as a more intelligent film than RHPS, but it still retains all of the trademark fun and campy thrills that fans expect.

It'll really get you jumping like a live wire.
