10 Great Movies With 100% Rotten Tomatoes Ratings You Probably Missed

4. Playtime

Playtime Tati The third and final French film on this list of great movies with 100% Rotten Tomatoes ratings you may have missed is an altogether different film than the previous two entries - Jacques Tati's owes far more to the silent comedy classics of old than it does to expressionistic art house fare. Reviving his Monsieur Hulot character for his fourth feature film, Jacques Tati crafted with Playtime perhaps one of the most intricately constructed, nuanced comedies in the history of cinema. Playing out with very little in the way of dialogue or plot (Tati prefers to utilise sound design as a medium for audible jokes, with dialogue often reduced to background chatter), Playtime features several scenarios on which a string of gags are based, from an open plan office complex to a newly constructed restaurant undergoing teething problems. Playtime certainly rewards the viewer with repeated viewings - shot in 70mm, Tati fills each shot with so much detail that it's easy to miss out on some of the subtle gags first time around. Comedy doesn't come much more elaborately staged than this.
