10 Great Movies About Making Movies

2. Day For Night

Francois Truffaut loved movies. This was his love letter to the movies. Like much of Truffaut's best work, this 1973 film about the behind the scenes dramas of a film shoot is comprised of short pieces and vignettes, showing what the crew and cast of a French film go through in varying stages of their life during production. The message here is quite simple. Is the work more important? Is going through all the long hours and hard work worth it in the end if it sacrifices your happiness, relationships and ultimately your life. Truffaut shows us these questions through a very non-judgmental eye, and makes us appreciate movies all the more in the process.
