According to a a few sources, the Hollywood executives behind cult stoner classic
Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle made one of the most bizarre requests in the history of cinematic endeavor: make Harold and Kumar - an Asian-American and an Indian-American - of the Jewish heritage instead. The fact that part of the appeal of the movie was based around racial minorities - and the difficulties they often face - was of apparently no concern. This idea was never implemented, of course, because Harold and Kumar's director, Danny Leiner, said that it was dumb. As a way of appeasing the executives, though, he did incorporate two Jewish characters to serve as the pair's best friends. Had Leiner not put up a fight, you might've been heading to the theatre to see something along the lines of
Cohen & Goldstein Go To Temple instead.
