4. Avatar (2009)
20th Century FoxAvatar. The film that made more money than has ever existed ever, in all the world, ever. Far be it from us to be facetious, but when a film like Avatar comes along and breaks $2.7 Billion at the box office, on a budget of $237 Million - with a story that Pocahontas should really be thinking about suing over, well that's a strange set of circumstances. Story magnificence and James Cameron's house made of cash aside, Avatar utilised its famed new technology that took ten long years to develop to great effect. Admittedly, Sigourney Weaver as a giant blue...thing gave some of us here at WhatCulture the funny tingles, but it was the use of colour in the alien world that really allows Avatar such a prestigious place on this list.
