10 Great Movies (That Were Led By Terrible Performances)
8. Dracula (1992)
Francis Ford Coppola's handling of Bram Stoker's tale, Dracula, received many critical accolades upon its release. His aversion to computer-generated effects and decision to use old-school filmic techniques to achieve the more difficult aspects of production has allowed the film to age well. It looks like it could have been filmed in the '70s, with a touch of classic cinema running throughout. Gary Oldman is fantastic as the titular antagonist, hiring a voice coach to help drop an octave in order to perfect the Transylvanian accent. Why couldn't Keanu Reeves do the same? Don't get us wrong - he is an entertaining actor who has made some very good films (Point Break and Speed to name two), but his forte is all-American good guys saving the day - he should stay away from that awful British accent for the rest of his career. His role as Jonathan Harker may be his worst - yes, even worse than Much Ado About Nothing.
