Emilio Rivera is iconic as Álvarez in Sons of Anarchy and the spin-off Mayans M.C. Initially an antagonist, he comes to have a more neutral (if not necessarily friendly) relationships with the sons.

Early in his career, Rivera starred in a cult action classic that helped to get his career off the ground - Con Air.

Cameron Poe (Nicholas Cage) is a former U.S. Ranger who has just been paroled following a stint in prison. He finds himself trapped in a prisoner transport plane (the jailbird) when the dangerous passengers seize control, led by Cyrus 'The Virus' Grissom (John Malkovich).

Rivera stars as Carlos, who along with Poe is one of the cons aboard the jailbird when it takes off. Rivera has cited Con Air as the film that allowed him to move into acting full-time. Speaking to Uproxx, he said that Con Air was "one of the best experiences of my career. I made enough money to buy two homes, and I was able to quit my day job."

Con Air also features another Sons of Anarchy star - the legendary Danny Trejo plays the side antagonist Johnny 23. Trejo appears in season four and five of SoA as Romeo.
