2. Saving Private Ryan (Ryan Hurst)
Opie consistently gets some of the standout moments throughout Sons of Anarchy, best exemplified by his satisfying role in the climax to season three.
Ryan Hurst brings out the kindness and loyalty in Opie as well as his capacity for quiet but white hot fury that emerges after Donna's death. Before he made a name for himself with SAMCRO, Hurst had a small role in one of the classic war movies of recent decades, Saving Private Ryan.
Directed by Steven Spielberg, Saving Private Ryan follows US Army Rangers Captain John H. Miller (Tom Hanks) and his squad as they follow their orders to rescue paratrooper Private Ryan (Matt Damon). During their mission they encounter paratrooper Mandelsohn (Hurst), who is able to share Private Ryan's approximate location with Miller despite suffering from temporary hearing loss.
Before his big break with SoA, Hurst occupied a number of smaller roles such as this. It is also not the only war movie he has been in. He also stars as Sgt. Ernie Savage in the Vietnam war movie We Were Soldiers, which features Mel Gibson in the main role.
Hurst's other roles include a recurring role in The Walking Dead and the spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead.
