2. Palm Springs (2020) - Tyler Hoechlin
Tyler Hoechlin brought the character of werewolf Derek Hale to life on Teen Wolf. Since Teen Wolf ended, Tyler has been busy portraying Superman in The CW's Arrowverse, but he did find time to film the excellent rom-com Palm Springs.
Pitched as a science fiction rom-com, Palm Springs follows strangers Nyles and Sarah who meet at a wedding and decide to hook up. During this, Nyles is shot with an arrow and the duo seek shelter in a cave where they're thrust into a Groundhog Day-style time vortex. Both dying and falling asleep resets the day.
As a rom-com, it's not rocket science to guess how things play out but it doesn't take away from the fact that the film is hugely enjoyable. Tyler portrays Abe who is the groom of the wedding that Nyles and Sarah were attending. His character also appears in a significant way in the time loop, but that's all we'll say on that.
Palm Springs was deservedly nominated for two Golden Globe Awards and has an impressive rating of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. No matter how big or small the role, the entire cast deliver A grade performances and as a bonus, the soundtrack is great too.
