10 Great Music Videos That Would Make Even Better Films

9. Daft Punk - Da Funk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmi60Bd4jSs This video tells the tale of an outsider trying to find their way in the big, daunting city. It€™s a concept which has been dealt with in films before, such as Midnight Cowboy or Babe: Pig in the City. However this time the outsider is a creepy looking human-dog like creature with a broken leg that carries a boombox around with him. No one questions the anthropomorphic strangeness exhibited by the protagonist in this video. The people he passes in the street overlook the he has the head of a beagle. The choice of using a dog head could be accredited to the director, Spike Jonze, who has a fascination with €˜magical realism€™ - a form of storytelling that re-evaluates some mundane facet of everyday life by injecting elements of fantasy into it, without ever compromising its "realness". It€™s a brilliant and innovative music video, and a further exploration into the psyche of the mysterious dog-headed character could prove an interesting idea for a film.
