7. Aerosmith - Janie's Got A Gun
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqQn2ADZE1A It may be a relatively unknown fact that before David Fincher came to fame as an acclaimed film director, he started out making music videos. And extremely successful music videos too, working with artists ranging from Madonna to Nine Inch Nails. Youd never have guessed that the man who directed cult cinematic classics such as Seven and Fight Club was also the man responsible for Madonnas iconic Vogue video. When Steven Tylers mouth isnt dominating the screen, we can see a rather twisted story being told, the story of the eponymous Janie. After being sexually abused by her father, Janie takes revenge by shooting him in the face. The idiosyncrasies of Finchers style are evident throughout. There is the low-key lighting contributing to the oppressive atmosphere, and the fast-paced editing creates a dramatic crescendo, culminating in poignant shots of Janie running through traffic. If this storyline was developed into a feature length film, I could see it being another cult classic from Fincher.
