Drugs are bad, that's pretty clear, but you know what's even worse? Transforming into a giant slug monster and killing a bunch of people.

Craving is a 2023 film from director J. Horton and opens in a seedy bar full of customers. They get the fright of their lives when five heroin addicts burst in and barricade the doors, as another group is hot on their heels. The second gang claim that one of the addicts is actually a creature in disguise - it's up to the patrons to figure who it is before it's too late.

Whilst the monster mystery serves as a good anchor for the plot, there's also the threat of the addicts coming down from their highs, leading to more erratic and violent behaviour. When the monster shows its true colours, it's pretty horrendous, and not many people are left standing when all is said and done.

It's never explicitly stated that the drugs are what made the monster, so if Craving was going for an anti-heroin message, it failed. Still, it works as an actual horror film, which is plenty good enough.
