10 Great Shapeshifter Horror Movies You May Have Missed

6. Cat People & The Curse Of The Cat People

It must be your lucky day, because this entry is about two films rather than one!

In 1942, French actor Simone Simon (yes, that's her real name) starred in the movie Cat People as Irena, a woman with an unfortunate problem. Every time she becomes sexually aroused, Irena transforms into a giant panther, on account of her ancestor's dalliances with witchcraft.

Over the course of the film, Irena attempts to hide her secret from her new husband Oliver, which doesn't end well. Then, two year later, our hero returned in a sequel, The Curse of the Cat People, which is about Irena's ghost interacting with Oliver and his new wife's young daughter.

Spoilers for the end of Cat People, by the way.

If you're in the mood for some fantastic old-timey horror that packs a decent social punch, too, you could do far worse than to stick these two on as a double bill. If you're still not done with Cat People content, then why not try the 1982 remake, which stars Nastassja Kinski in the lead role.
