10 Great X-Men Characters To Follow Apocalypse As Movie Villains

9. Bastion

Marvel ComicsMarvel ComicsGiven Bastion's nature, he would have to follow Nimrod as a potential villain in the X-Men movie universe, so we're looking a bit further ahead here with regards to his potential appearance on screen. He is a fusion of Nimrod and Master Mold (a far less intriguing character on his own) - the latter being a Sentinel that was created by Bolivar Trask (who, of course, is an established character in the X-Men movie franchise, having been portrayed by Peter Dinklage). The fusion occurred after Nimrod unearthed Master Mold and Mold's programming was interfering with that of Nimrod's. During a subsequent battle with the X-Men, the two Sentinels were blasted through the Siege Perilous (a fictional device which judged anybody who passed through it and reincarnated them into a new life proportionate in quality with their previous life) along with Rogue. The resulting consequence was the emergence of Bastion - seemingly a man of flesh who was actually a robot - and he had all the abilities of the two Sentinels he was made from, as well as the ability to turn people in to Sentinels with his touch. So imagine, if you will, that Nimrod comes in to the X-Men movie universe. He is defeated in one of Trask's old facilities - or so it seems - a place to which he had been instinctively drawn. A post-credit scene shows that the final blow dealt to him was executed in the presence of a disabled Sentinel that had been stored away (Master Mold). In the scene, the two machines start to interact and, utilising a fail-safe, merge with each other. The resulting product opens its very human-looking eyes as the screen turns black, indicating that Bastion is coming in the next movie.
