10 Greatest "Die Hard On A...." Movies

4. Olympus Has Fallen: Die Hard In The White House

Olympus Has Fallen
FilmDistrict

If I’m completely honest I didn’t have the highest expectations for Olympus Has Fallen when I went to see it in 2013. However it won me over thanks to its steadfast commitment to being relentlessly over the top and ridiculous right from the first enormous set piece that sets up its simple central premise: Die Hard in the White House.

It’s another unique choice of location to locate the Die Hard premise in as Gerard Butler’s US Secret Service Agent (disgraced, naturally) is forced to stalk the White House's various corridors and crawl spaces as he sets about killing every terrorist that has taken the building and the President himself hostage.

There’s some enjoyable fight scenes, plenty of elaborate set-pieces and even a valiant effort at Willis-esque quipping from Butler. It loses points slightly owing to a distinct lack of charisma coming from its lead baddie, but Olympus Has Fallen is one of the most enjoyable modern Die Hard movies going.
