10 Greatest Alien Movies Of All Time

3 €“ Independence Day

As far as alien invasion films go, Independence Day gave everything it promised and more. Prior to its release, on screen destruction had been a little on the feeble side, but from the minute a number of huge spaceships hover over landmarks of the world you know that his is not going to end with a couple of small laser beams vaporising some pedestrians.

In the space of a few short moments of CGI destruction, the world is brought to its knees by the closes thing to alien apocalypse imaginable as well as the sight of the White House being blown to pieces and that€™s only the beginning of it.

Like any such blockbuster, there is obviously a fight-back from the human quotient led by the President himself, an impossible mission that is pulled off at the last minute and a hopeless moment turned into a blaze of glory for Randy Quaid€™s drunken ne€™er do well.

Mix in an inspired partnership between Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith, a rousing battle speech from Bill Pullman€™s President, a handful of jumpy moments, spectacular special effects and the unforgettable sight of Will Smith punching an alien in the face with the quip line, €œWelcome to Earth.€ and Independence Day was the bar for future invasion films.
