10 Greatest Baseball Films Of All Time
4. Moneyball (2011)
In a unique twist on the typical baseball film, Moneyball looks at the behind-the-scenes methods of small-team general manager Billy Beane. A true story based on the critically acclaimed Michael Lewis book of the same name, Moneyball masterfully is able to make baseball scouting and analytics a truly captivating watch.
Now of course, the star power of Brad Pitt most certainly did help in getting people to want to watch a film about complex baseball analytics, but that is not to say that Moneyball was reliant on the actor. Bolstered by a gripping screenplay and superb supporting cast that includes Jonah Hill and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Moneyball received critical acclaim and six Oscar nominations in 2012.
