1. The Pianist
Film Directed By: Roman Polanski
Original Work By: Wladyslaw Szpilman Based on a memoir called Death Of A City, The Pianist is the greatest war film of all time and Polanski's best work. The star, Adrian Brody, established himself as a man capable of holding an entire film single-handedly. As we watched him struggle, the epitomising feeling for we viewers was hope, we want him to survive. It is a film worthy of tears, especially on Polanski's part who, as a Polish Jew, knows truly what this film is about. The memoir itself is a wonderful book, descriptive and dark, naturally. Only Polanski could have done it justice.
