5. Looper - Cid Gets Angry
Rian Johnsons Sci-FI smash had a number of memorable visual moments, including Old Seth slowing losing body parts as his younger self is tortured and of course the climactic corn field stand-off. However the moment that really stayed with me after leaving the theatre came when young Cid, whose telekinetic abilities had until now not been fully realised, demonstrates his frightening powers after becoming enraged during a Gat Mans visit to his mothers remote farm house. As the action slows down and we see the rage build up on Cids face, there is an eerie calm before the storm. Jason Gordon Levitts Joe initially runs over to try and help Cid, only for Emily Blunts Sara to pull Joe away at the last minute in order to protect him. Then, in a ferocious burst of energy, Cid snaps and releases the full brunt of his telekinetic fury upon the Gat Man played by Garrett Dillahunt. As Dillahunt is lifted in the air and blood starts seeping from his pores we come to realise that Cid may well be infamous Rainmaker after all. Its a moment of great power and one which just looks mightily impressive on the big screen. It was the first scene me and my friends talked about after the movie ended and Im sure it was the same for many others.
