8. Escape From Alcatraz (1979)
Escape From Alcatraz stars Clint as Frank Morris, a man who attempted to Escape from the infamous titular prison - something that nobody had ever managed to do. It is the highest ranked movie on this list directed by Don Siegel - who Clint has referred to as a major influence on his own directing. With a budget of $8,000,000 it grossed over $40,000,000 in the U.S. alone. It's certainly the most consistent movie of those mentioned so far and had some great moments of tension, as well as some excellently placed dialogue that comes back to affect the plot in ways that you just don't think about when watching it for the first time. Clint's performance is similar to those previously mentioned but the movie around him is of a much higher quality.
