10 Greatest Comic Book Movie Endings

7. Deadpool - Smashing Through The Fourth Wall

Joker Calling Card
Fox

For a movie chock-full of gory kills and moral ambiguity, Deadpool wrapped things up in a neat, fan-pleasing package.

Ryan Reynolds's potty-mouthed merc reunited with Vanessa, killed the villainous Ajax against the wishes of Colossus (because he's Deadpool), and left his buddies to clean up the unholy mess he'd made.

It was everything the fans wanted, but the best part came later on when Deadpool smashed through the fourth wall, ripped on post-credits scenes, impersonated Ferris Bueller and belted out a fine rendition of George Michael’s Careless Whisper.

Throwing in sequel setups right at the end has become an overused cliche in the superhero genre, but Deadpool provided them with enough tongue-in-cheek satire to get away with it and earn that big-budget follow-up featuring Cable.

The entire final act nails everything the character is about. He even earns bonus points for stealing Spider-Man's catchphrase and calling himself “Your friendly neighbourhood pool-guy” during his signoff.
