The dictionary defines "The Dad Joke" as an unoriginal or unfunny joke told by a middle aged/older man. Clearly this dictionary entry was written by someone childless, because dad jokes are so much more than just a failed attempt at humour.

Dad jokes are a never ending quest to embarrass your family at your own expense. It's the joke equivalent of jumping on a live pun grenade. When it goes off, the dad may take the most damage, but those around will have to pick up the pieces left from the explosion of embarrassment.

Truly, the dad joke paradox is that the worse the jokes are, the bigger the groan, thereby making it a good dad joke. Groans are a father's currency and the markets are open, baby!

This article will take a closer look at some of the times that famous movies have taken off their sunglasses, put on their socks and sandals and fully embraced the glory of a dad joke. From cursed board games to dinosaur theme parks, this article will show that there is never a bad time for a dad joke.

Are you ready to enter the cinematic world of amazing dad jokes? Are you ready?

Well all that's left to say is: Hi, Ready! I'm dad.

10. The Other Guys - Female Body Inspector

The Other Guys has to be one of the most underrated comedy films of the last 10 years. It's insanely quotable, has an all star comedy cast and features THAT "aim for the bushes" scene.

Desk-bound cops Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are an unlikely duo in this hilarious buddy cop movie as they try to uncover a money laundering conspiracy. Ferrell and Wahlberg are electric together and no moment better optimizes their difficult relationship than the FBI mug scene.

This scene has tremendous boomer dad energy for a number of reasons. Firstly, Will Ferrell is rocking the beige suit and massive specs combo. Secondly, the entire scene is reminiscent of a father/son road trip in a sense that Ferrell is trying desperately to bond with Wahlberg but he would rather be literally anywhere else.

Finally, Ferrell gives Wahlberg a present in the form of an FBI mug but, oh boy, all is not what it seems! Instead of the FBI acronym standing for Federal Bureau of Investigation, some wacky prankster changed it to meaning Female Body Inspector.

Who among us hasn't seen a dad out in public wearing a shirt or hat with that classic joke written on it?
