10 Greatest Dad Jokes In Movie History

4. Jumanji - Cluedo Joke

The original Jumanji film released in 1995 was certainly no joke. The life-like animatronics, horrific vine plants and ruthless man hunter, Van Pelt, was the closest thing kids had to a genuine horror movie.

Despite the terrifying nature of the film, there was one man and one man only that could inject some much needed comedy into the most dire of situations and that was Robin Williams. Whether he was melting into the floor or chasing off monkeys armed with shotguns, Williams always made room for a remark or joke to break the ice.

The dad joke that makes the list from this amazing adventure feature, happened when Alan (Williams) Judy, Peter and Sarah are all gathered around the game after surviving a horrific stampede. Alan decides to lift the mood by saying the following:

[Alan is about to play a turn on the game, and he suddenly cracks up a joke]

Alan Parrish : Okay, it's my turn. I got it! "Colonel Mustard in the Library with a wrench."

    [chuckles]

    Alan Parrish : "Clue."

Not only does he try to lighten the mood by injecting a bit of dad humour into the situation, but the fact that he then laughs to himself and feels like he has to explains the joke is a wonderful example of how painful and awkward a dad joke can be.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
