10 Greatest Disney Death Scenes

2. Finding Nemo(2003): Nemo's Mom Dies

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZ9nbv1VK0s This scene combines three things that are bound to make me sad, and combines the best elements from previous Disney scenes already included in this list. First of all, like Bambi, this is another famous Disney scene which shows death of the title character's mother in a pretty horrifically tragic circumstance. Both scenes also show the mothers dieing off screen. The second, like I've mentioned time and time again is the horrific nature of being eaten alive (poor seal), and the final point, as is seen in the movie UP, is the idea of leaving a man having to grieve the loss of his wife. Side note: you very rarely see a woman having to grieve the loss of a husband, although men have a lower life expectancy. Added to this the fact that not only does Marlon lose his wife (do fish get married) but also many, many, many of his unborn children. I would also like to settle an argument once and for all, and would love to hear your thoughts about this very fact in the comments section. Although UP has been given a hell of a lot of credit recently for being the greatest opening scene in a Pixar movie, I would like to disagree with that fact right now. I believe this scene is not only a better scene than the opening of UP, but also far more emotional. Despite the fact that yesterday my post (10 Greatest Movie Opening Scenes Of All Time) excluded this Finding Nemo scene and included UP's opening scene, this was only simply because I completely forgot about how stunning and how sad this particular opening scene is. If I could rewrite that list, I would have certainly replaced the scene in UP for this scene here.
