7. The Lion King (1994): Scar's Death Scene
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOGKa7bMuoE For all of you out there who are at this point are raging about the fact I haven chosen to include this death scene from this movie instead of the other one (you know the one) don't worry. You never know what will feature further down this list... well, maybe you know now. If I had to say what I believed was the scariest way any human or in fact anything could possibly die it would have to be being eaten alive. The sad truth is though that a very high proportion of life on earth since the beginning of time has met this exact fate... and any one who has ever watched any David Attenborough wild life documentaries will know the true horrors animals face daily. Though this scene from this film doesn't really compare to, for example, having to watch a real life baby seal being hunted by a killer whale as it sits all alone on a floating piece of ice, and then nudged off that piece of ice slowly before being eaten by "Free Willy" (my personal saddest moment from a wildlife documentary... I don't know if you've seen the scene I am talking about) this scene from The Lion King is still remarkably powerful and one of the most iconic death scenes in all of Disney's movies. As much as I hated Scar for what he did to Mufasa, I'm not sure I even wanted him to meet the fate he met at the end of the film. To be eaten alive by arguably your only good friends (the Hyena's) is a shockingly horrific way to go. If you were to replace every animal in this film with humans then imagine how truly horrific this scene would really be. Somehow, the fact that only anthropomorphic cartoon animals meet this kind of fate in children's cartoon movies is oddly comforting but even still...
