9. Scaramanga
In an eerily similar fashion to Mr. Zorin, Christopher Lees Scaramanga is another example of a great actor and a promising character stuck in a sub-par Bond movie. The Man With The Golden Gun is a dull mess with some truly teeth-grinding elements (especially that hideously-obnoxious Sheriff), but it shudders into life whenever Lees smirking, sinister, scarily confident master-assassin appears on screen. Of course, then its right back to Moore pratting about, and the film lapses back into a witless stupor, but at least the idea of the worlds deadliest hit-man pitting his skills against the worlds deadliest secret agent is an evocative notion, albeit poorly-executed in this case. Scaramanga is an intriguing Evil Counterpart to Bond, a polished gentleman with a talent for death who relishes his morbid trade, yet lacking the tenuous inhibition represented by Bonds sense of duty and professionalism.
