10 Greatest Ever Minimalist Movie Posters

4. The Usual Suspects

The Usual Suspects PosterMatt Owen is back, this time designing a brilliant poster for Bryan Singer's sublime - and sublimely confusing - thriller The Usual Suspects. While the average Joe might be able to make sense of many of these posters without actually watching the films, this one would surely stump anyone who hasn't seen it; what the Hell do shifting footprints indicate? Of course, anyone who's seen the film - and who hasn't? - will appreciate the artistic reference to the film's shocking twist ending, in which Kerbal Kint reveals himself to be the criminal mastermind Keyser Soze all along, his rehearsed cripple walk promptly shifting to a regular one as he gets in a car and speeds away. Far from the typical imagery the film conjures up - say, Soze's shadowy figure or a broken Kobayashi porcelain mug - Owen's inventive knack for visual detail makes this one of the all-time best minimalist posters.
