10 Greatest Ever Stoner Movies
6. Pineapple Express
The Judd Apatow directed film follows Dale Denton (Seth Rogen) and Saul Silver (James Franco) as they try to escape a drug lord Ted (Gary Cole), who is after them after Denton witnesses him kill a man. They enlist the help of their friend Red (Danny McBride), to escape the henchmen set on them by Ted and a crooked police officer.
Being high and having no one believe him, Rogen really plays this type of character well - the dumb, lovable, stoner guy. This is what makes this film - the comfort and ease the actors seem to have in this role.
This was a relatively low budget film, especially considering its not so low box office gross, based on Brad Pitt's character Floyd in True Romance, and not to be missed.
Best Moment
Dale and Saul hide out in the woods after escaping from the henchmen, and decided to get high. This results in five minutes of the best stoner comedy in the film. Saul debates if Ted could use a barracuda to track them. Afterwards, he gets freaked out by an unseen thing in the woods and runs away from Dale, who runs in the opposite direction shouting "I'm scared of this darkness, I surrender."
