10 Greatest Film Directors in the World Today

4. Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino will always divide opinions, but nobody can deny the impact he has had on world cinema. He has his formula and signature, and he€™s either loved or loathed for it. Tarantino films are packed with witty dialogue spoken at 100mph and unflinching violence, all in a highly stylized manner, which compliments the often absurdist nature of some of his scenes. His films influenced a generation, and his themes, ticks and motifs are borrowed every single day by young filmmakers, in much the same way he has paid homage/stole off all the films he loved. There is no questioning the raw, visceral, thrill-ride of Reservoir Dogs or the slick, stylish, super-cool Pulp Fiction or even the under-appreciated and grown-up Jackie Brown, and they€™re the three films that defined him as a phenomenon with a mighty stature in the film world. His sheer love of film is beautifully apparent, as he makes dead genre€™s relevant again with his clever, almost too clever mind. Death Proof is downright awful, and Inglourious Basterds lumbers in parts and borders on self-indulgence, but he creates entertaining scenario€™s and you just can€™t take your eyes off a Tarantino film. There is nobody that makes the very simple act of sitting down and watching a film so enjoyable. Top 5 Films:
1. Pulp Fiction 2. Reservoir Dogs 3. Jackie Brown 4. Kill Bill 5. Inglourious Basterds
