10 Greatest Film Directors in the World Today

2. Terrence Malick

Terrence Malick is a poet, with an artist€™s touch for nature. Most people don€™t have a clue as to what he looks like, he shuns all press and interviews, and there are virtually no on-set pictures of him anywhere, but that only adds to Malick€™s mystique, at least in the eyes of the actors literally begging to be in his films. The visual scope of his films is genuinely unparalleled. Even if you don€™t €˜get€™ The Tree of Life, it is impossible to deny the consuming beauty of Malick€™s masterwork. Malick€™s almost mythological career spans over four decades, but has only produced six films. There was a time span of twenty years between Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line, his second and third films. Thankfully, Malick is now making films with more frequency than ever before, with To The Wonder due out soon and with two further films in production, it€™s a good time to be a fan of the mercurial genius. Some of his shots wouldn€™t look out-of-place in the Louvre, as he captures in ultra-real detail the wonderful beauty of the world. Possibly the most ambitious director to ever live, he doesn€™t just make films, he makes all-consuming emotional journeys. Top 5 Films:
1. The Tree of Life 2. Badlands 3. The Thin Red Line 4. Days of Heaven 5. The New World
