10 Greatest Film Trilogies of All Time

06. Back to the Future

Who says time travel has to be done by stuffy little aliens from Gallifrey that swan around in their magical police box fighting wheelie bins with sink plungers stuck on them every saturday night? No, some time travellers prefer to do it with a little more class, and what dear friends is better than a classic suped up DeLorean powered by plutonium? You could be excused for thinking a) Marty McFly shouldn't be hanging around crusty old weirdos like Emmet Brown at his age and b) that Doc Brown is bonkers and the last person you'd trust to send you back in time to save your parents marriage, but that's exactly what happens in Robert Zemeckis' stark raving mad sci-fi comedy series about a young man that travels to various points in time to right wrongs and to avoid running into himself. This is another trilogy that appeals to our inner child that wants nothing more than to be able to drive soooooo fast that they can actually travel through time and have adventures. Cool thought, right? Especially in part 2 with the flying skateboards and part 3 where McFly ends up in the Old West - a popular location for time travellers it seems. Or so Bill and ted tell us.
