10 Greatest Horror Movies Of The 21st Century

7. Let The Right One In (2008)

Vampirism and young love collide exquisitely in this adaptation of the acclaimed Swedish novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist. It tells the story of Oskar, a bullied young boy who one day meets and befriends new neighbour Ellie, a beautiful and peculiar young girl who, unbeknownst to Oskar, is actually an ancient vampire who needs blood to survive. What makes this visually gorgeous film so great, and what sets it apart from the million other vampire movies out there, is that it€™s primarily a story about young love and growing up (or in Ellie's case, never being able to). We truly believe in the growing relationship between Ellie and Oskar and feel heartbroken whenever anything, or indeed anyone, gets in the way. The horror aspects are just the icing on the cake and what icing it is €“ there are a handful of sequences in there that should unnerve even the most hardened of horror fans.
