10 Greatest Indiana Jones Movie Moments

2. The Three Trials – The Last Crusade

The finale of The Last Crusade is a masterclass in how to end a story. The whole film builds to this terrific finale, and it certainly doesn't disappoint.

With his father’s life at stake, Indy must venture past three trials to reach the Holy Grail – the Breath of God, the Name of God, and the Path of God.

Each of the three trials is simple enough in terms of its design, but watching Indy attempt to get past them is still suspenseful due to how deadly they are.

Given he has the clues in his father’s diary to guide him, it also feels as if Indy is facing the trials with his father, which very much adds to the drama of the moment. Indeed, the way this scene regularly cuts back to Henry Jones heightens this feeling still further.

What makes this moment so memorable, therefore, is how it balances some intense booby traps with plenty of emotion. The moment Indy has to choose the Holy Grail is great too, but the best part of this finale will always be the three trials.
