2. Edward Norton's Incredible Hulk Sequel

In spite of Marvel Studios cornering the market on the superhero genre since 2008, and completely outperforming any and all competition along the way, when you think about the best comic book movies ever made your mind will likely go to The Dark Knight before too long.

Christopher Nolan's entire trilogy was dark, gritty, and grounded in reality as far as superheroes go, and it inspired Edward Norton's vision of what the Hulk should have been. Norton's lone MCU movie is widely considered as an outlier in the franchise, but it could have been very different.

Norton planned out a two-movie arc for his Bruce Banner, the first of which was the origin story, before exploring the character of Bruce, and his dynamic with the Hulk. A sequel such as this could have potentially ensured that The Incredible Hulk would have been the black sheep no more, though it would have likely prevented Mark Ruffalo from ever joining the fray.

Would this have been worth it, though? Bruce Banner feels like a perfect subject for a "long, dark, serious" Dark Knight-esque movie, particularly one that would have explored his personality as someone who was beginning to co-exist with the Other Guy.
