10 Greatest MCU Final Scenes
4. Arishem Casts Judgement - Eternals
With its release delayed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s safe to say that Eternals failed to perform at the same box office rate as other Marvel Cinematic Universe entries. Whether that’s down to the pandemic impacting audience’s reluctance to return to cinemas, or the fact that the Eternals are lesser-known Marvel characters – one thing’s for certain, the movie set up several tantalising storylines for future sequels.
The closing scenes of Eternals sees Thena, Druig, and Makkari depart on the Domo ship in a bid to find more Eternals on other planets, and to warn them of the truth behind the Deviants, Celestials, and real purpose of the Eternals.
Team leader Sersi chooses to stay on Earth, but it’s not to last. While talking to boyfriend Dane Whitman about his mysterious past, Arishem the Celestial returns and takes Sersi and her fellow Eternals Phastos and Kingo into space. Displeased with their treason, Arishem vows to spare humanity if the memories of the Eternals prove that humans are worthy of living.
The Celestial then takes the Eternals with him and promises he will return to cast judgement on Earth.
