Throughout the MCU, across all smaller franchises and the plethora of heroes that have graced screens over the years, there is no one else like Tony Stark. No one else Steve Rogers, Captain America himself, could ever call Earth’s best defender.

Technically without any powers or abilities, as he is just a mere mortal man with no super strength, no godly powers, and no Infinity Stone-based magic, Iron Man used his intelligence and his technology to essentially surround himself with a suit of armour full of powers instead.

As the franchise has continued, Stark's armour has evolved and allowed him to do battle with the likes of Loki and Thanos, while also perfecting time travel and seeing the other side of the wormhole that opened during the Battle of New York.

Tech and limitless money aside, it was Tony’s personality and values that made him a great hero more than anything else. He was once thought of as the kind of person not to make the sacrifice play, but on two separate occasions he proved that thought wrong, giving up his life and his family in order to save the entire universe.
