10 Greatest Movie Car Chases Of All Time

8. Death Proof

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btjQ0Ty6o2M This might be the "minor" entry of Tarantino's filmmaking career - and is widely touted as his worst film by pretty much everyone - but it does feature a bravura chase sequence at its climax that completely livens things up amid all those stodgy dialogues. Granted, the conceit that Daredevil Zoe likes to lie on the hood of a moving car for her kicks is a forced contrivance necessary to give the scene danger, but it's easy to let that go once Kurt Russell's devilish lech Stuntman Mike shows up and gives chase, forcing the girls into a cat-and-mouse game, even if you might find yourself saying, "Why don't they just slow down and let her get in the car?". Still, it's necessary for the scene to maintain its visceral appeal; much of the thrill comes from seeing Zoe clinging gingerly to the hood of the car as Stuntman Mike tries to run them off the road, Tarantino capturing the scene with his trademark electric skill. When a collision occurs, the girls get the chance to turn the tables on Mike, injuring his arm, and eventually giving him a good kicking to death. It's among the most perilous and exciting car chases you'll ever see.
